Instagram Placement Test
Unfortunalty due to Covid-19 I have been unable to get into the local archive to get good quality digital copies of the original images. However, I have included the watermarked versions from the archives website. The water marked images can be replaced with good quality copies before release. I would like to release this in the run up to the release of the film and as a counterpart piece to the film. I think it conveys a narrative that partnered with the film could add an interesting dynamic to my folio as well as some traction to the viewing of the film.
I am really happy how this transitions onto the platform and I feel it has a strong easily conveyable narrative. Instagram's marking on the timeline, where multi add is being used, is also a useful aid to usability.
I am really happy about how it looks as a whole. The use of white space gives breathing room to the subject. With the designs functionality really drawing from the original styles I looked at. I made the choice to showcase the photographs by not over designing the layout so that the narrative and the story becomes the main feature. I also included the use of text styles determined earlier in MA Creative practice through the Materials and Processes unit, so as to keep continuity with the project as a whole.
Description for Instagram Caption
The "Castle Craigs" is a heritage walk that's observed by the community of Eskdale all year round. It's also a community event that is ridden and walked as a notable part of Langholm Common Riding each July. The event will not taking place due to Covid-19, a first since it's inception in 1759. Given this absence and the current constraints on social gatherings I wanted to explore the communities relationship with the journey. Using a collection of archive material and personal photography taken whilst on the walk, I hope to communicate the experiences through contemporary technology.
